Keep transactions traceable across your crypto records.

Record quantities, dates, proceeds and costs so you can review the history behind an event. Separate a transfer from a disposal before relying on a total.

For Individuals and businesses organising digital-asset activity.

Record what actually happened

Buying, selling, swapping and moving an asset can look similar in an account history while having different implications. Keep the asset, quantity, timestamp and transaction identifier where available. TaxBot’s crypto workspace helps organise records for review. Do not assume a withdrawal from an exchange is automatically a sale or that a swap has no reporting consequence.

Resolve gaps before calculating

A missing acquisition record can make a later disposal misleading. Reconcile transfers between your own wallets, check fees and use consistent currency information. Staking, mining and other receipts may require separate analysis. When several acquisitions exist, retain the individual records so the applicable parcel or cost-basis approach can be reviewed instead of silently invented.

Prepare an understandable history

An occasional investor may have a few events; a business accepting digital assets may need a more regular reconciliation. Keep original exports and explain corrections. The public example is a proceeds-minus-entered-cost illustration, not a full crypto tax engine. Use the signed-in record tools alongside advice appropriate to your country and activity.

Before you begin

The example excludes parcel rules, currency conversion, income classification and jurisdiction-specific adjustments. It does not estimate tax payable.

Everyday examples

A first-time investor

Keeps purchase evidence instead of only recording the final sale.

An office worker with several wallets

Matches transfers so moving their own assets is not counted twice.

A small business

Separates a customer payment from a later asset disposal.

Review a sample disposal

A simplified event record only. Transfers, parcel selection and tax treatment require separate review. Enable JavaScript to change the example figures.

Questions

Is a transfer between my wallets a sale?

Do not infer an event’s treatment from a withdrawal label alone. Reconcile both sides and review the actual transaction.

What if acquisition costs are missing?

Recover the source records before relying on a gain estimate. A missing value should not silently become an assumed zero.
